Novella

Novella began as a personal branding concept, but over time I realized I wanted to repurpose the logo into something more playful and story-driven. Inspired by the word “telenovela” and the idea of storytelling, I transformed the brand into an online bookstore for kids. The goal of this project was to create a fun, welcoming, and imaginative digital experience that encouraged young readers to explore books in a creative and engaging way.

Mood Boards

The mood boards helped establish the colorful and playful personality of Novella. I explored bright colors, bubbly typography, fun illustrations, and soft rounded shapes to create a visual direction that felt energetic, kid-friendly, and imaginative while still remaining clean and easy to navigate.

Sketches

During the sketching phase, I explored multiple logo concepts and typography variations for the Novella brand. I first experimented with focusing on the letter “N,” then gradually expanded into full wordmark variations and supporting illustrations. This process helped me freely test ideas and discover the direction that best matched the playful storytelling theme of the brand.

Digital Drafts

The digital drafting stage focused on refining my strongest concepts and turning them into polished logo designs. I used simple black-and-white variations first to focus on balance, typography, and overall composition before introducing color and branding elements. This process helped create a more cohesive and professional visual identity.

Wireframe Drafts

The wireframe drafts helped organize the structure and layout of the website while maintaining the playful personality of the brand. I focused on creating a design that felt fun and engaging for younger audiences without making the interface feel overwhelming or complicated to navigate.

Final Design

The final Novella design combines playful visuals, soft typography, and colorful branding to create a welcoming online bookstore experience for kids. The project includes desktop and mobile website designs, promotional banners, stickers, and mockups that support the overall identity of the brand. The final result feels imaginative, approachable, and designed to make reading feel exciting and interactive for young audiences.

Reflection

This project became one of my favorite creative explorations because it started as something completely different and evolved into an entirely new brand identity. I loved being able to repurpose my original logo concept into something more meaningful and story-focused. Watching a small idea grow into a full visual system for Novella was both rewarding and satisfying, and it allowed me to strengthen my skills in branding, web design, and visual storytelling.
